Job Security :: Listen
If youve got anything close to job security and a little cash on hand, now is the time to travel. Airlines announced this month they're cutting prices to compete with each other, which is great for consumers. The airlines are going under the assumption that if they don't cut ticket prices, no one will fly. They may be right, but either way, take advantage of it now.
Flights to Europe are at an all-time low, try under $300 round-trip to Paris or Rome. Countries on the continent are desperately seeking U.S. dollars.

Italy, whose biggest gross national product is the tourism industry, according to National Public Radio, is hurting right now due to a lack of American visitors, who are reported to be the biggest tippers and spenders on souvenirs.

Hotels are also getting in on the deal, offering fewer perks and better prices. For expample, luxury hotels are skimping by not putting chocolate on every pillow and doing away with concierge services or free breakfast, and slashing rates. Works for travelers who don't need candy at bedtime, but want to experience new places.

The web sites, www.applevacations.com and www.cheapcarribean.com are offering super cheap all-inclusive vacations to the islands this spring and summer. Two people can go to Mexico or the Dominican Republic for about $1700 for a week, including airfare. That means for less than $2,000, a couple can eat, drink and be merry on the beach.
Even U.S. destinations are cheap right now as the airlines offer low-priced, one-way tickets to many destinations. Inns and bed and breakfasts are also getting in on the act by offering packages to get heads in beds.

So hey, maybe a little getaway is in order. If your employer is instituting some of those nonpaid days off to make payroll, be thankful, and join the jet set.
