Marriage, Lies and Diamonds
A friend I used to work with shared this story with me, and I wanted to know what you all thought.

Nancy had been dating her boyfriend for a little over a year and knew he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Her boyfriend, Scott, had been serious with another girl that he was engaged to, but that ended a few years before Nancy met him. As their relationship was getting more serious, they had started talking about marriage, kids, etc. She was very excited and went looking at engagement rings a few times. She always said that she wanted to pick out the engagement ring but that her boyfriend could pick out whatever diamond he wanted to.

Time had passed and over the holidays he proposed! Her ring was absolutely gorgeous! The diamond was a little over a carat and sparkled like I’ve never seen a diamond sparkle before! It looked totally flawless, and it was just beautiful! She was crazy about it and could never take her eyes off of it! She couldn’t imagine how much he spent on it, nor should she be concerned, but Scott wasn’t made of money. She joked with Scott one time asking him if he used the diamond from his ex finance’s old ring, and he said he wouldn’t do that. He told her he went back to the store he got it from and upgraded it to a better diamond.

They got married and got settled in their house together. After a while Nancy wanted to get rid of stuff they hadn’t used and clean out some of the closets to make room for other things. One day while Nancy was cleaning out one of the closets, she found an envelope with receipts in it. She opened it up and noticed they were the receipts of the engagement ring and wedding bands. She then found a receipt for the diamond that had been purchased at the time Scott was engaged to his ex fiancé. She looked through all the receipts and noticed that there wasn’t anything indicating that there was a new diamond, just the receipt from the one he previously bought. Her heart dropped, and she was upset but didn’t know whether or not to say anything to her husband. She talked to a lot of her friends and, of course, got different opinions on what she should do.

If you were in her shoes, what would you do?
