Before
opening NASA Well Drilling & Engineering, Inc in Marlton, NJ in 1998,
John Dogbey, originally of Ghana, said his college years were some of
the best in his life. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Civil
Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, in
1981. Dogbey told www.Storiedsuccess.com that he fondly remembers the
first day he saw snow, "I was really fascinated by it, and I didn't care
that it was cold. I can recall it like it was yesterday."
When we caught up with him, he also laughed about
that first winter in Scotland, and how he kept cozy in his apartment. In
spring, the owner of the building asked if he was warm enough, when
Dogbey said he was comfortable all winter, the owner laughed. "He had
moved someone out of that room because it was unbearably hot. It was
just over the boiler room. When he heard I was from Africa, he put me
there and I loved it," Dogbey said with a laugh. He has since learned to
deal with cold winters and appreciates each season in southern New
Jersey, where he has lived for nearly 20 years. Dogbey has a
Professional Engineer certification in Ontario, where he lived for 15
years, and New Jersey.
He owns NASA Well Drilling & Engineering, Inc , a
company that specializes in civil and geotechnical engineering. He skips
the science-speak, and says the company will save you money by making
sure the job is done right the first time. Instead of trusting
contracting companies to engineering tasks, call the experts and feel
safe your projects will last longer. Homeowners, contractors and
architects call NASA Well Drilling & Engineering when they need to go a
step further to ensure safety and quality in the foundation of homes and
roads or design in septic systems or subdivisions.
Dogbey and his partner, Matt Golestaneh, a
University of Oklahoma grad, make sure all jobs are done in a timely
manner, and they pride themselves in an open, honest communication with
customers.
The company takes soil, concrete and asphalt
samples. With the results that show the content of the material, Berm
determines how soft, porous and stable the ground is before people build
on it. This helps them determine the safest spot for their client to
build on, and to establish what type of foundation is most suitable to
prevent damage or sinking.
They also survey land to differentiate wetlands
from highlands and find the safest place to build. Berm also specializes
in on-site septic system design to optimize space. The team of engineers
also excels with subdivision plans and storm water management to carry
projects into the future without failure due to lack of forethought and
planning.
During construction, NASA Well Drilling &
Engineering can test and monitor compression, grating and pile to ensure
a building or road foundation is properly installed. "Real estate
agents, home buyers or contractors hire us to check redesigns of septics
and make sure the design is good," he said.
NASA Well Drilling & Engineering is happy to serve
clients of any size, from individuals to small contracts to large
companies in southern New Jersey.
