So my daughter is turning 6 months old
this week! I have to say that the time is flying by, but it was a slow
start when she was first born. I never thought I’d see six months come,
but here it is and wow is she growing!
This past week she has really undergone some hardships. Not only is she
teething, but she caught a cold on top of that accompanied by a lovely
fever and a harsh cough! The night she had a fever I was so scared and
upset I thought that she needed to go to the hospital. It was 101.7, but
she was crying, coughing and her nose was non-stop running. I cried
along with her and told my husband that I wish there was something I
could do to take away her pain. Being a first time mother I guess you
are never prepared for their first sickness along with the pain of
teething, and whatever the next illness will be. She is such a trooper
though. Through it all she was full of smiles whenever we did things to
make her laugh or let her play with her favorite toy.
Everyone says the fever was due to her teething and while that may be
true, I think it’s due more to the cold she has. I believe that they get
fevers while teething, but the way she was sneezing and coughing, it was
definitely because of the cold. It’s amazing how strong she is through
this. She still seemed to have a lot of energy and she ate very well.
Baths seemed to help a lot too! She loves bath time and loves to kick
and splash around! I think that made her feel a lot better too.
The happiest part about this is that her two bottom teeth have popped
through! Of course I got all choked up. I happened to be at Babies R Us
when I first discovered this. One of the girls who worked there happened
to be standing there, and she said “First time Mom huh?” I laughed and
said yes! It was very exciting, and my daughter just smiled and laughed
at my reaction. I love being a Mom!
