Henry Milton Pyles
Class of 1922
“Prof” was a professor and friend, a
counselor and encourager.
Dr. Pyles gave most of his adult
life in service to KWC. He joined
the faculty of Kentucky Wesleyan in
1921 as professor of biology and
earned his MA from KWC the next
year. After earning a second
Master’s degree from George Peabody
and a Doctorate from UK, both in
Education, he began teaching in that
field and became Director of the
college’s Teacher Training Program.
Over most of his career, “Prof” as
we called him, served in the dual
role of professor and administrator.
He served as Registrar for about 25
years as well as Academic Dean and
Director of Affairs...
Dr. Thomas C. Meredith ’63
developed a love for the classroom as a
child in the Owensboro public schools. After
graduating from Kentucky Wesleyan College,
he taught at Owensboro High School for six
years, where he also helped coach basketball
and baseball. He earned a master of arts in
education administration from Western
Kentucky University and a doctor of
education in administration and supervision
with an emphasis in secondary and higher
education from the University of
Mississippi.
